11/23/23:
Mush that satisfies

Mumblecore in musical form, at first it might seem that Part Time Signals doesn't feature vocals. And then you realize that humming is actually singing. After a minute or two the words become clearer. It's kinda wild, though, how the vocals are buried in the mix.

But that's just one feature of this laid-back, sorta psychedelic ramble through roots rock. Despite the lackadaisical setting, these short songs get right to the point, land their punches and fade to black. It's as if this Cardiff outfit decided to subvert every expectation possible.

And so, every once in a while, things get loud. Expect the unexpected, sonically and otherwise. This is an immensely enjoyable album--the electric organ is just the right touch--largely because it doesn't play by the rules. That mellow feel keeps these songs from sounding disjointed or somehow showy.

Naw, this is chill-down to the max. Get in the groove and enjoy every last second. And since it passes so quickly, why not give it another go? This sucker burnishes sunsets with aplomb.
