6/16/22:
Sweatin' to the oldies

Flight Mode is Norwegian, and the reference to 2005 is more of a metaphor than a description of the sound. Except this sounds a lot like the mathy emo that was pretty damned prevalent back then.

Flight Mode
Torshov, '05 EP
(self-released)

There are differences. These songs clock in at around three minutes, and they get pretty bashy during the hooks. Still, not a modern feel by any stretch of the imagination. That's fine. Flight Mode has a solid handle on what it want to do, and it's not apologizing for anything.

A fine first set. Four songs that ramble, flow and then crash together. You know, kinda like that stuff from a decade-and-a-half ago. The complete lack of pretension creates a surprising intimacy, quickly creating a strong connection. More should be on order.
