3/10/22:
Gravel on the way home

It's pretty remarkable that no one has ever written a song called "The Ballad of Dick Trickle". It's even more remarkable that Terry Klein barely makes reference to the legendary driver's absurd name. The entire song is based on the premise that the only thing people know about Trickle is his name, but Klein spends his time celebrating the man.

Good Luck Take Care
(self-released)

Each song on this album bores into its subject and sticks to the bones of the story. Klein seems to be eternally on the precipice of one joke or another, and many of these songs have a finger-pickin' jump blues feel, but Klein never oversteps his bounds.

All that said, this album is an incredible romp. Klein takes things down a notch every once in a while, but he always comes back with something bright. The emotional ride on this album is varied, but never taxing. Klein tells stories; take from them what you will.

Always putting the right foot forward, Klein has crafted an unassailable set of songs. The infectious joy of the playing lifts these well-appointed songs into a higher plane. These songs may be locked-in and tight, but they never fail to bring a smile, wry or otherwise. The complete package.
