1/14/21:
The new modern

Darren Jackson and Ian Prince hail from Minneapolis. They've been releasing singles from this album for a while, and now the full vision has arrived. The newly filled-in gaps are at least as impressive as what has already been posted.

Kid Dakota
Age of Roaches
(Graveface)

Kinda shoegazey, kinda indie-rocky, kinda soft-pedaled noisy. In other words, the sort of thing that was called "modern rock" thirty years ago. Kid Dakota fuses these elements into kicky, introspective songs that manage to look inward and blast off at the same time. That's a trick and a half.

It's pretty easy to differentiate the earlier singles from the rest of the album. The production sound doesn't quite match up, it's clear that Kid Dakota has decided to become somewhat more kinetic as time has passed. Not sure what that means for the future, other than I'm pretty sure Jackson and Prince will continue to evolve.

This is a grabber from start, despite the occasionally downbeat feel. Kid Dakota knows how to put together songs with real emotional depth, something that becomes more and more obvious as the album moves along. Get real lost, and don't bother with finding your way out too quickly. This one's worth the wallow.
