8/10/20:
Duration does not denote quality

Dylan Iuliano has been exploring the realms of propulsive electronic music for some time. Unlike most folks who create otherworldly sounds (or simply the sounds of other worlds), Iuliano keeps his thoughts short and to the point.

The Delay in the Universal Loop
Holy Circuitry
(Bulbless!/Bell Garden)

There are eight pieces here, and four of them clock in at less than two minutes. The entire set flies by in less than 20 minutes. What's amazing to me is how much he is able to express within those compressed time frames.

Indeed, these songs sound fully-formed and not at all rushed. They are complete ideas, and their short duration is hardly noticed. Except, of course, when they've blown by. But that only makes it easier to hit repeat.

Much more playful than many of his brethren in this sound, Iuliano sounds like he's having a good time--even during the darkest moments. There's an underlying whimsy that makes this set a true joy. Leave preconceptions behind. The Delay in the Universal Loop is here to trip a synapse or two. Don't worry; you'll have a blast.
