Rising

This three-song set comprises the singles that Acidic Base has released in the last year. And while it's true that Siddharth Goswami is a Chicago-area teenager, he's also one of the most forward-thinking EDM artists around.

I know, EDM is so 2006 (or whatever). I hear you. I feel you. I agree, even. But Goswami manages to deconstruct the EDM ethos and still deliver the required rush. He doesn't peddle pabulum for ecstasy freaks. He's dishing Cuban coffee to adrenaline junkies. Each of these three songs tells a story, and Goswami messes around with the formula just enough to get the mind racing.

And, yes, you can still dance to it. But that's beside the point.

When I heard Purple Skies a year ago, I was blown away. And I wondered what Goswami might do. If these three songs are any indication, Acidic Base is primed to take over any minute now. "Wow" is hardly a sufficient response.
