1/27/20: Blues wax poetical Poems by Bukowski and William H. Davies set to the blues. A blistering big blues sound and a raspy delivery. Kinda like mid-70s Tom Waits with more of a commercial blues sheen.
The musicians are smoother than John Mayall, but the vocals are edgier. Still, that's a decent comparison as well. Listening to this album is like settling into a broken-in leather chair with a glass of mid-shelf bourbon. The meander is easy and stirring. These songs don't break any new ground, but the do put some pleasant spins on a comfortable sound. Well played. |
