12/2/19: Reaching back There are six tracks, but just four songs. That's not a complaint. Well, it is, 'cause it would be nice to get even more of this propulsive fuzz-pop. The band's bio references playing with the Breeders and Flaming Lips, and the sound does have a certain turn-of-the-last-decade-of-the-last-century feel to it. The songs, though, are something else.
And that serves these deceptively simple songs well. The Cordial Sins know how to sell a song, and all four here have been given the proper foundation. A far too short set, but perhaps there's perfection in brevity. Perfect for the last rays of a global warming summer. |
