9/19/19:
Between glitches

Nick Demopoulos is very serious about his music, but he's not above throwing a pun into his album title. Everything here is electronic, even the (MIDI-ed) guitar. Demopoulos doesn't worry too much about adhering to any particular school or style, though he throws in a bit more melody than the average experimental type.

There are elements of the ambient, of course, but the rhythms here are far too busy to stay there long. Each piece does seem to wrap itself around a melody to two, but my definition of melody might differ from yours. In general, this album wanders through an electronic universe that is not quite ours.

The pieces are long, which makes full immersion easy and most enjoyable. Skipping through the glitch-esque rhythms and fractured melodies is a pleasure.

Miles from the mainstream, yet still accessible. Smomid allows for an enlightening journey to the frontal lobes. Challenging--in the best way.
