7/4/19:
Something in the air

The genre listing for this on Apple Music is "funk". That's hilarious. Us3r may be many things, but if anything this is antifunk. Well, perhaps this is funk for those who thought Sly Fox was funky, but I think that just proves my point.

Us3r
1985
(Deep Water)

The title track proclaims "I'm a child of the 80s." In fact, the man known as Us3r was born in 1985. His parents were touring musicians and his dad is still a session player. He makes his money working at Amazon (at least, that's the hearsay) and he records these electronic baubles for fun.

Take a healthy dollop of Air, smother it in EDM and throw in a dash of Beck (because, why not?) and you're getting there. The mixture is an intoxicating modern electronic mélange, an ever-evolving meander through scrims of keyboards.

Truly lovely. I personally far prefer the music to the moments when vocals intrude. Us3r knows how to craft his songs. My advice: drop the words. The music says enough on its own. But even so, this is a wonderful set.
