5/2/19: Punk Italiano There's something about Italian post-punk bands that just makes me happy. A couple decades ago Uzeda was a common ear blister for me. And I'm pretty sure there's another band that I'm thinking of. Or maybe not. There's a lot of music in my head.
Somewhere between Don Caballero and Kepone (two ancient references that I have spent copious time with in recent weeks), Lags manages to warp a "classic" sound into something much more modern. Indeed, some of these songs sound far ahead of their time, perhaps preparing to wait until they're back in style again. They're right on time for my ears, anyway. The kids are in a different place these days, and a lot of us geezers probably aren't willing to court heart attacks. But we should. Lags is the perfect prescription for arteriosclerosis. Turn it to 11 and just try to tell me you don't feel alive. This is my comfort food, and it settles on my ears exceptionally well. |
