6/28/18:
Dance your life away

Twenty-five (!) remixed and repurposed songs from the Free Radicals six-album catalog. These new visions take already infectious songs and blast them into a new sphere of dance horn jazz. As if that was actually possible.

Free Radicals & DJ Sun
No State Solution
(self-released)

Free Radicals are accomplished jazz players, but they wail with the intensity of drum corps brass and groove with the incessant joy of a Caribbean combo. This is the perfect introduction for those who are unfamiliar, and it's a treat for those of us in the know.

The contributions of DJ Sun (who, like the Radicals, is Houston-based) cannot be understated. He takes already slinky jams and tweaks them in new and sometimes unexpected ways. This set leans a bit more to the dance and less to the jazz than most Radicals outings, but in many ways I'd say both impulses are magnified. This is one of the rare occasions where more really is more.

Just in time for the summer, these are some seriously good times. Unrefined joy leavened with happiness. Just try to contain yourself.
